Designer, Andrew Clark Honored with an AIA Maine Design Award

2025

Honoring innovation in craft

Congratulations to Andrew Clark, Architectural Designer, who received a Merit Award as well as the People’s Choice Award in the Student Project Category at the 2025 AIA Maine Design Awards! Andrew was recognized for his project Computational Craftsmanship, which he developed while completing his master’s degree at Syracuse University School of Architecture. The project envisions a future where computational designers and regional craftspeople work in tandem to advance both digital and traditional crafts—reviving nearly lost crafts and integrating them with emerging digital techniques.

“The result is a beautiful yet functional building design for a maker space.”

An inspired space

The jury praised Andrew’s project for its “remarkable restraint relying on the simple barn form and timber frame construction and instead, inspires occupants in their craft by exploring artistic and innovative material assemblies for the foundations, cladding and site elements.” They noted, “The result is a beautiful yet functional building design for a maker space.”

We are thrilled to have such talent on our team and congratulate Andrew on this incredible accomplishment!

Lastly, to all this year’s award recipients—congratulations! Your work inspires us.
